I love this view of Minas Basin at low tide. You can see Blomidon in the distance past miles and miles of pink mudflats. It makes me nostalgic for the summers of my youth in Nova Scotia!
This piece was awarded first place by Sara Kabot, Head of Exhibitions for the Cantor Museum when it was exhibited in "Landscapes, Seascapes and Urbanscapes", a juried show at the Pacific Art League of Palo Alto in 2014. She had the following to say about the piece:
I particularly loved your piece in person (though I certainly enjoyed the digital image as well) because I could see the mix of techniques, from an almost pointillist approach in places to areas where the visible brushstrokes emphasized the horizontality, to sections where the colors blended seamlessly. The saturation of the color was consistent throughout, but your approach made the piece feel layered, like some sections of earth were seen through water. Overall, it made me reconsider a view I've seen many times and felt like a quiet appreciation of the patient, but profound impact of water on land. - Sara Kabot
