So many rainbows!
In this piece I wanted to extricate Angelica from the epic tale told by Ariosto during the Italian Renaissance in which the knight Roger rescues Princess Angelica on his hippogriff from a sea serpent where she has been left naked and chained on an island by barbarians.
It was a popular scene in art, interpreted by Redon and Ingres and here by T. Chartran published by George Barrie.
I wanted to remove her from this scene and have her surrounded instead by rainbows.
