This painting was inspired by another gorgeous photograph taken by dear friend, novelist Christy Ann Colin. The lily of the valley, which symbolizes humility and a return to happiness, really spoke to me as this flower had made such an impression on me as a child with it's sweet smelling delicate white poisonous bells that were growing in my own front yard. The T G Green Ltd. Church Gresley deco creamer with it's band of cows was really charming too. This pastoral scene was also reminiscent of my Annapolis Valley and I thought it would be fun to paint cows in the pasture beyond as well. I added some lace I had won at auction years ago in Nova Scotia and added some vintage scissors to complete my composition.
