In Blue Bead Lily Tea, I used a souvenir of Nova Scotia vintage teacup, filling it with the Blue Bead Berries of my memories of walking in the woods at Gaspereau Lake where we had a family cottage, where I saw my first Belted Kingfisher, the provincial bird of Nova Scotia, depicted here as a female. I used the Nova Scotia Tartan, the same hue as the berries, as a backdrop and flooded the foreground with water and hand tied vintage fishing flies in a ode to the place I have deep nostalgia for….. they say that every painting is a self-portrait, hmmmm.
