I have a pair of Spotted Towhees patrolling my garden. The male is particularly handsome with striking red eyes and an orange vest tucked into his formal looking plumage. His voice is less fancy, more a scree than a song but all the better for me to find him with my camera! For a long time I wasn’t coming across the right teacup for him, but once I saw this hand painted cup from Czechoslovakia I knew the search was over. It seemed to echo his puffy white breast with just the right black and orange accents. And then I had to go and plant nasturtiums….
