I've perched the rare female Anna's Hummingbird that had managed to slip past the watchful eyes of the male that guards my feeder atop a nosegay of violets in a hand painted early German teacup. Violets can mean modesty, faithfulness, affection , virtue, love and watchfulness in the Victorian lexicon of flowers.
