I began building up detail and refining areas. Here are some close ups as well as the final result of my day’s work.
Lots of color in the base for the sky.
The blue from the sea is bleeding into foreground.
In painting the tree there are several approaches, paint the the shape of the branches or focus on the sea between the branches. Do both.
The painting ir roughed out pretty well now, recognizably land, sea and sky. From here on the work will be subtle fine-tuning.
I see & hear the sea & surf…..
I feel the motion of the moist sea air….
I smell the various seaside vegetation & a bit of Cypress…
I long for a day in Monterey or any other northern California ocean side site..
The sky speaks of may fine days to come.
All my senses are alerted & I love the new Monterey Cypress commission painting. VERY NICELY DONE.
I’m quite simply loving what I see!
Wow.
So wonderful to see how you develop this amazing painting from canvas to sea-scene. The vivid green foliage sparkles of early summer days. One can almost smell the fragrance from pine wafting along in the sea breeze. Simply stunning.
