I just got back from dropping off my painting, Pond Lily Path at the at the Pacific Art League of Palo Alto. I’m pleased to say it was accepted into the nationally juried exhibition Paintings, Paintings by Rachel Lazo (www.rachellazo.com.) The show runs from March 1-28, with an opening reception on Friday March 1 from 5:30 -8:00 pm.
The best part of exhibiting is meeting with everyone that has come out to support me and check out the new work, seeing friends and clients and making new connections! I was thrilled to see this Victorian crazy quilt by Elizabeth Parkhurst Williams which is currently on exhibit at the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles. I love how these quilts serve as a repository of souvenirs, a diary of remnants and a document of the period. Scraps of a wedding dress, a christening gown, a ribbon from a meeting. It was raining cats and dogs last night but our Holiday Reception at the Los Gatos Museums Art Gallery was packed as usual! Sales were brisk and I was happy to meet with friends and clients (old and new). Whether people came out for the art or the champagne and pepper jack persimmon slices, everyone enjoyed themselves including this cutie pie, Buddy.
Looking forward to the Holiday Reception Tonight from 6-8:30 ! I have my Shell Grave painting on display (which takes up a lot of real estate on it’s own) while I’m busy in my studio preparing work to be featured in the gallery this January as Featured Artist.
